One indication that spring is close is the annual GDC Spring Show is right around the corner. This year the show will be April 27-29 at Kirkwood Mall.

Okay, maybe that isn’t right around the corner, but students have created the poster for the upcoming show and that puts us in the mindset.

This year’s poster was designed by Ambre Thingvold and plays on a tropical theme.

Food and beverage photography are an excellent way to learn studio photography. Both demand planning and experimentation to capture a great image. The sophomore students have been working hard learning about lighting and finding the limits of their equipment.

The Bismarck State College Graphic Design and Communications program had a great showing at the 2015 North Dakota  American Advertising Federation Awards that were held February 28 in Fargo.

Danni Schwartz won a silver in the color photo category, Kaleb Edmonson received a silver in advertising logo and Emily Johannes got a gold for poster design.

The BSC Foundation provided a grant that covered the entry fee for the students giving BSC a very strong showing at the awards.

The American Advertising Federation is a national advertising trade organization that represents all facets of the advertising industry. BSC students competed with students from a variety of other two and four-year institutions across N.D. and Western Minn.
